The next day, I went back with five sheets on which I had detailed how we could work towards their betterment and woman empowerment. They must have been surprised because I was around 18-19 then. One day, during the holidays, I walked into the UNHCR ( United Nations Commissioner for Refugees) office and told them I wanted to work with these Afghan refugees, assist in the local integration and resettlement of these displaced, stateless people. There was a colony near my college where some Afghan families, who had fled their country after the Russian invasion, had moved in. I have always been interested in social work. Yes, it was my first programme, designed to aid and ease their stay in India. You worked with Afghan refugees in Delhi as a student. I wish I could give them my own example to make them believe that there is a shining light." It was a trying time, and Anu, who has worked with Afghan refugees many years ago, tells Contributor Roshmila Bhattacharya, "I wish I could share my story with the people in Afghanistan now.

Overall this will be the song this wedding season across all of the India and the UK and rightly deserves to be that as it is a well balance remake with a good amount of new content added to it. Vocals match nicely with Sidhu’s chorus almost sounding as one with good supporting vocals by Sachin-Jigar themselves. Even the rap is nicely arranged and fits well with Khurrana’s character in the movie. The choice of Punjabi is what matters here as it simplifies it a lot making it more palatable for the general masses. The new lyrics & vocals by IP Singh are pretty fun and complement the original chorus nicely while bringing the romantic story of the movie into the song.

The additional tumbis & flutes sound good with a more versatile dhol throughout. They have filled the music a lot more music layers making the sound more rounded and whole while also making it more Bollywood acceptable. And Sachin-Jigar have done just that using the original artist and his chorus. The hook and melody of the 2004 original is so strong and authentically dhol dominated fast-paced Punjabi number that one just can’t go wrong using the main bits of it. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Title Track is an easy success as it would be a hit even without listening to the song. The first single is a hardcore Punjabi remake of an all-time Jassi Sidhu classic that has also inspired the name of the movie. They also have Sachin-Jigar combo leading the score and that adds a whole lot of more fun and high expectations to this album. Being the funny Punjabi movie with Khurrana as the leading man with Abhishek Kapoor as the director with many music dominant movies to his credit, one can expect a good music album here. Typical story but not so typical in the Khurrana world of tackling social taboos. But there is a twist in the romantic tale. Based in Chandigarh, the cool Punjabi aspects will be strong in this movie as body-builder Khurrana tries to woo Zumba teacher Vaani Kapoor. The trailer looks great and leaves a mystery as to what the real issue is that the film aims to tackle with beautiful Vaani Kapoor playing the leading lady. Clearly there must be a social angle to the story of ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ that Khurrana will aim to change with his powerful but comical enactment skills. Director Abhishek Kapoor of ‘Rock On!!’ (2008) and ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013) fame is back with his first project with Ayushmann Khurrana.
